Writing a Press Release
Sending a news release is the most cost-effective way to alert the media about your activities. TCAG serves clients by generating coverage in standard and new media.
When you are writing a news release, it is important to answer five key questions: who, what, when, where and why.
Of course you don’t have to answer all these questions at once. Try to keep your news release to no more than two double-spaced typed pages.
Your release should contain the following:
- Contact Information
- Release Date
- Dateline (in bold capital letters)
- Attention Grabbing Headline (10-words or less)
- Effective Lead-in (first sentence summarize entire release in 30-words or less)
- Body Text (feature quotes, active voice)
- Conclusion (about your organization)
- End Paragraph Sign (#)
